Context
A manufacturing requirement called for custom powder-coating jigs across three sizes, with multiple units of each size required to support production.
Challenge
The individual component was straightforward; the delivery challenge was consistency across quantity, dimensional requirements, manufacturing coordination and timing. A simple part repeated many times can become an operational problem if variation or late delivery disrupts production.
My role
I coordinated the design and manufacturing requirement with an affiliated manufacturing resource, clarified the required variants and maintained a weekly delivery cadence.
Governance
The project was controlled through clear quantities, drawings or requirements, delivery sequencing and regular follow-up. Quality and timing were treated as the primary acceptance criteria rather than adding unnecessary governance overhead.
Stakeholders
Production users, engineering and the manufacturing supplier needed the same understanding of configuration, quantity and timing.
Risks
The main risks were dimensional inconsistency, incorrect mix of sizes, late batches and avoidable rework.
Actions
I structured the sizes and quantities, coordinated fabrication, checked progress and kept the delivery sequence visible against the production need.
Outcome
The required jigs were delivered ahead of the target deadline while maintaining the intended quality and cadence.
Lessons
Governance should match project complexity. A small tooling project does not need a large bureaucracy; it needs clear requirements, ownership, acceptance criteria and reliable follow-through.
